BIBLICAL THEOLOGY: ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS

We will be meeting at Dexter McCarty MS in the band/choir room every Sunday for 6 weeks from 9-9:45am. (Middle School thru High School students are welcome to register for this class.) 

Childcare is provided for ages PreK-5th grade. When you register please follow the prompts and let us know if you will be needing childcare. 

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Session 1: May 7th - Introduction: It’s All About Jesus . . . Really!
Main Themes:

• Luke 24 Meditation and others
• What is Biblical Theology? A working definition

In this class, we will study Luke 24 and Jesus’s teaching on how all the Scriptures point to him. We will also give a working definition of biblical theology. 

Session 2: May 14th - Sovereignty and Scripture: God and the Bible
Main Themes:

• Inspiration
• Sovereignty
• Interpretation: Grammatical, historical, canonical

In this class, we will find that unless God is sovereign and unless he inspired the Bible, there could be no biblical theology. But because he is . . . 

Session 3: May 21st - The Story of the Bible: Creation, Fall, Redemption, Consummation 

In this class, we will see the Bible comes to us as a story, whose plot follows the arc of creation, fall, redemption, and consummation. Jesus is the star of that Story.

Session 4: May 28th - The Covenants: Adam to Abraham
Main Themes:

• Covenant with Adam?
• Covenant with Noah
• Covenant with Abraham

In this class, we will find that the covenants are the skeleton of the biblical story, agreements that God made with his people that change everything and drive the storyline. We will look at Adam, Noah, and Abraham.

Session 5: June 4th - The Covenants: Moses, David, and the New Covenant
Main Themes:

• Covenant with Moses/Israel
• Covenant with David
• Jesus and the New Covenant

In this class, we will finish our study of the biblical covenants. We will look at Moses, David and the New Covenant, discovering how everything builds to the coming of Jesus.

Session 6: June 11th - Tying it all Together: The Benefit of Biblical Theology

We will conclude our study of biblical theology by looking at its benefits for Bible Study, Christian Living, and pretty much everything else.
